National Skills Week 2025: Chairman Welcomes Reappointment of Minister for Skills and Training
Sydney, 14 May 2025 – With National Skills Week set to run from 25–31 August
2025, Chairman Brian Wexham has welcomed the reappointment of The Hon.
Andrew Giles MP for a second term as Australia’s Minister for Skills and
Training.
“We look forward to working once again with Minister Giles on this important national
initiative, now in its 15th year,” said Mr Wexham. “His continued leadership brings
much-needed consistency to this vital portfolio.”
This year’s National Skills Week will shine a spotlight on the transformative power of
Vocational Education and Training (VET), encouraging Australians of all ages to
consider the vast opportunities available through skills-based learning.
“From trades to emerging industries, learning a new skill can be truly life-changing —
for individuals, communities, and the economy,” Mr Wexham added.
With skills shortages impacting industries and essential services across the
country, both Federal and State Governments have committed significant investment
in the sector — including through Jobs and Skills Councils, TAFEs, and other
education providers — to accelerate training and meet national workforce needs.
National Skills Week 2025 takes place from 25 to 31 August.
