National Skills Week was launched on Monday 24 August at NSW Parliament House in Sydney. The week recognises, celebrates and informs students and the wider public of the diversity, benefits and achievements associated with Vocational Education and Training. This years theme embraced and brought into focus the skills needs associated with Australia’s emerging areas of opportunity.

The night featured creative displays by students from TAFE NSW and performances from the Australian Institute of Music (AIM).

Guests included The Hon John Barilio NSW Minister for Skills, Small Business and Regional Development, founder of National Skills Week Brian Wexham and members from Australia’s successful WorldSkills team (the Skillaroos), who recently returned from the 43rd International WorldSkills competition in Brazil.
