The Visual and Communication Design Seminars held by the Academy of Design are open to all design students who need assistance with their design studies or who would simply like to learn more about the industry. Session 1 on Saturday 20th May, focuses on starting the Folio.

Kristen Guthrie will be presenting this session, focusing on the Design Brief, research methods and idea generation. The session will also cover wrapping up Unit 3 work and identify where students should be at this point in the unit.

Kristen Guthrie is both an experienced teacher of Visual Communication Design and Graphic Designer. She has been closely involved in the development, teaching and evaluation of VCE Visual Communication since its introduction to the VCE curriculum. She has worked in curriculum development and assessment with the VCAA and is passionate about design education. Kristen is the author of the popular textbook, Nelson Visual Communication Design: VCE Units 1 – 4 now in its third edition as well as the accompanying student workbook. She is currently Head of Arts at Woodleigh School on the Mornington Peninsula.

Registrations for future sessions will be opened for registrations at the conclusion of the previous session.

Sunday 6 August – VCD Q&As (as part of the ADA Open Day)
Saturday 26 August – Finishing the SAT and creating your Pitch
Wednesday 27 September – Exam preparation
