Event Date: August 28th, 2019
20 Year 10 and 11 Hospitality students from Newcastle High School will be attending this event. Students will be treated to a tour of Rydges Hotel and will be shown the various departments within the establishment. They will have the opportunity to interact with employees and ask questions specific to the industry. Students will then be involved in a 2 course cooking demonstration where the chef will be focusing on methods of cookery and molecular gastronomy techniques. Some students will be participants in this back of house experience, while others will set tables for service. Students will then swap so that they get to experience both front and back of house opportunities.
This experience will give students a greater awareness of the Hospitality industry and the potential areas of employment available in both front and back of house positions. It is also an opportunity to develop an ongoing industry relationship with Rydges who provide local schools with work placement positions throughout the year.
