Virtual Hair Experience: Journey to the Top, the hit online event for the hairdressing industry, will screen during National Skills Week.

One of the first Australian online hairdressing events of the COVID era, Virtual Hair Experience: Journey to the Top launched on Monday, 8 June and was co-produced by Box Hill Institute and Sharon Blain Education.

Its purpose is to inspire new people into hairdressing, motivate existing apprentices and students to remain, and prove that career opportunities were exciting and many.

As well as the hairdressing industry getting Hair Expo-style education, this event was also created as a resource for high schools, TAFEs and other colleges.

Co-producer Jane Trewin said that the three-hour extravaganza had been edited into shorter segments for career counsellors and teachers to share with students considering career options.

“Virtual Hair Experience: Journey to the Top was generously created with 12 leading Australian and New Zealand hairdressers who talked about the qualities to possess and the opportunities to seek out to become a leader in the field,” Jane Trewin said.

The interviewees included 2019 Australian Hairdresser of the Year, Dee Parker Attwood, New Zealand Hairdresser of the Year Danny Pato, TCT International Hairdresser of the Year, Kobi Bokshish, multiple award winners Sharon Blain, Jayne Wild, Benni and Jules Tognini, Hermiz Daniel and Joey Scandizzo, magazine and catwalk specialist Renya Xydis and 2019 Hair Expo Colour Technician of the Year and master of branding, Steve Corthine of Stevie English Hair.
