2015 marks 60 years of celebrating vocational education and training in the Northern Territory. The NT Training Awards are the Department of Business annual premier event recognising training excellence and achievements by Territory businesses, training organisations, apprentices, trainees, trainers and students.

The awards are an official recognition of excellence and achievements in gaining the highest standards of knowledge and skills, in contributing to high standards of training, and for personal achievement in the vocational education and training (VET) sector.

Award Categories are: –

Vocational Student of the Year Award
Koorie Student of the Year Award
Apprentice of the Year Award
Trainee of the Year Award
VET Teacher/Trainer of the Year Award

Organisational Categories
Small Employer of the Year Award
Employer of the Year Award
Small Training Provider of the Year Award
Large Training Provider of the Year Award
Industry Collaboration Award
VET Client Service/Support Excellence Award
VET in Schools Excellence Award
Employer Award for Apprentice Development
Community Training Provider of the Year

The awards offer finalists the chance to gain personal satisfaction and access opportunities in their industry, and provide the opportunity to be part of an elite group of ambassadors who represent the Territory’s best in vocational education and training.

Winners from the Northern Territory Training Awards (in aligned categories) will have the opportunity to compete with other states and territories to be named the best in Australia at the Australian Training Awards – the peak national awards for the Vocational Education and Training sector.

In 2014, Arafura Tree Services won Northern Territory small employer of the year and represented the Northern Territory at the Australian Training Awards.
