Girls Big Day Out is an annual event that occurs at The Gordon to introduce trade and other non-traditional career options to Year 9 girls from surrounding Geelong Secondary schools.

The girls will spend the day gaining hands-on experience from specialist Gordon educators in a range of trade activities which will include: Automotive, Bricklaying, Cabinet Making and Joinery, Cookery, Electrotechnology, Engineering, Information Technology, Painting and Horticulture .

Girls’ Big Day Out is an invaluable tool for motivating and emphasising the importance of women in trades as well as educating and training to gain skills for a successful future career. It gives young women a taste of the many opportunities available to them.
