Join St Patrick’s Technical College, industry and government to celebrate National Skills Week 2018. The opportunity for apprenticeships and traineeships in Adelaide’s north is looking bright thanks to the rejuvenation of the City of Playford and the emerging Defence industries. The lunch will bring together business leaders, industry, politicians and educators and offers a wonderful opportunity to make connections and hear from the Honourable David Pisoni, MP, Minister for Industry and Skills about the State Government’s vision for apprenticeships/traineeships.
The College will also be celebrating the naming of 5 staff, students and programs as finalists in the 2018 SA Training Awards, to be presented at a gala dinner on September 7.
The event features presentations from two special guests focusing on the importance of practical and vocational learning for the social and economic prosperity of northern Adelaide.

Your two-course lunch at the Playford Civic Centre will be prepared with the assistance of the College’s current Year 11 and 12 student-chefs. Your ticket includes a selection of Coopers beers, Tenafeate Creek wines and soft drinks plus a great opportunity to network with industry colleagues, College staff and representatives from local, state and federal government and agencies.

David Pisoni MP Member for Unley
Minister for Industry and Skills
David Pisoni is an Unley local with a small business background and a strong record in community service. He believes in suitable, long term solutions and good local representation. He completed an apprenticeship with Norman Turner & Nottage through Marleston TAFE before going on run his own manufacturing/retail company in Adelaide and Sydney. Mr Pisoni was elected to Parliament in 2006 and has sat on a number of parliamentary committees before being named as Minister for Industry and Skills with the new Liberal Marshall Government.

Alex Knoll is Business Development Manager, Brand Ambassador and a Director on the Board for Barossa Fine Foods, a family business and the largest smallgoods manufacturer in South Australia as well as the most awarded smallgoods maker in Australia. Alex has spent his life happily surrounded by food. When he was old enough to leave school, he turned his passion into a profession at the family business, Barossa Fine Foods, Australia’s most awarded smallgoods maker.
In his 17 years in the food industry, Alex has gained experience in smallgoods manufacturing, product development, brand development and management, customer relations, sales, event management and consumer education. Alex works very closely with his brothers on determining the direction of the company and also in the development of new products for national release. He is also involved in business strategy and direction through his position on the Barossa Fine Foods Board.
Alex has been determined to upskill himself through being hands on in the business including developing a wide knowledge of food and cooking which has assisted the company grow and to also inform what is required in the market. Alex is always eager to pass on his knowledge and help the Barossa Fine Foods team to become more streamlined and outcomes focused through his inclusive and infectious personality he leads by example by “getting his hands dirty” in the factory and in the sales sector, because of his personality he has developed strong relationships within the food industry in SA and Nationally.
In 2018 Alex has worked alongside his family to purchase Angelakis Brothers and bring it into the Barossa Fine foods stable of brands where he will undoubtedly influence the direction and quality of the product development with his sound food knowledge and strong relationships.
