National Skills Week Term 3 Week 6/7

Mitre 10 BBQ for Apprentices & Trade Students
Monday 27th August 10.30am – 1.00 pm
Mitre 10 in conjunction with Makita are running a national apprenticeship competition where apprentices go in the draw to win a huge range of tools. Makita and Mitre 10 will be running a sausage sizzle along with a range of demonstrations of all the tools available to win in the comp as well as to purchase in store giving students greater knowledge of tools used in industry.

Newman ‘Busy-ness Challenge’
Tuesday 28th 12.45pm
Business Services students compete in a skills challenge against the clock. Industry specialist to assist with assessment of contest.

Electrotechnology.
Tuesday 28th. 10.30am-12.30pm.
Year 12 Specialisation class excursion to Essential Energy Field Service Centre (Boronia St. Substation).

‘Another brick in the wall’
Thursday 30th. 11am-12.45pm.
Construction students learning the art of bricklaying. Master Builders Association (MBA) rep to visit and discuss employment opportunities

‘Friends and Food’ Project
Thursday 30th August. 10.30am-11.30am
Human Services and Hospitality: Clients from Omnicare respite facility will visit for morning tea and be entertained and cared for by Human Services students and well nourished by the hospitality department.

Industry Training Advisory Bodies (ITABs)
Breakfast and Presentation at Newman.
6th September 2018, 7.30am – 8.30am
The NSW ITABs will be conducting ‘Joint ITABs Roadshow’ in Port Macquarie on 6th September. This will be preceded by an employer /ITAB breakfast at Newman Senior Technical College. 9 of the ten NSW ITABs will be represented.
