Event Date: August 4th, 2017

It’s 1896 and Girton College at Cambridge University is the first tertiary college in Britain to admit women. While these female students match their male counterparts in ability, intelligence and accomplishment, they are denied degrees and go home unqualified with the stigma of a ‘blue stocking’ – an unnatural, educated woman.

Jessica Swale’s Blue Stockings follows the adventures of four first year Girton Girls who, despite the hurdles of love, class division and opposition from the academic establishment, remain determined to win the right to graduate and change the future of education.

An amateur production by special arrangement with Dominie Drama on behalf of Nick Hern Books
